50th anniversary season schedule for the Washington Capitals is released for 2024–25.

The Washington Capitals’ 2024–25 regular season schedule is currently available.The 50th anniversary season of the Capitals will officially begin on Saturday, October 12 with their home opener against the New Jersey Devils. The Devils, who were formerly the Kansas City Scouts, joined the NHL in the 1974–75 season, just like the Capitals.

The Capitals take on the Florida Panthers, the reigning Stanley Cup champions, on February 4.
February 9: On Super Bowl Sunday, the Utah Hockey Club makes its inaugural visit to Capital One Arena.

The Capitals take on the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid on February 23.

April 4: The Chicago Blackhawks and reigning Calder Trophy winner Connor Bedard pay a single visit to Capital One Arena.

April 13: Washington plays the Columbus Blue Jackets to wrap up their 2024–25 home regular season campaign.

The Capitals’ longest homestand of the season, which takes place at Capital One Arena from February 23 to March 3, features games against Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay. The team’s longest road trip will take place between January 21 and January 30, when they visit Ottawa, Edmonton, Seattle, Vancouver, and Calgary.

The Capitals will play on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 9 vs. Utah), Halloween (Oct. 31 vs. Montreal), and New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31 vs. Boston).

The 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, which will take place in Montreal and Boston from February 12 through 20, will take place after a 12-day hiatus for Washington from February 10 through February 21. With teams from the US, Canada, Sweden, and Finland, it will be the first in-season international competition for NHL players since the 2014 Olympics. Under Spencer Carbery, the Capitals will aim to qualify for the playoffs for the second straight year. With 853 goals in his career, Alex Ovechkin is 41 goals short of Wayne Gretzky’s 894 NHL record. Going into 2024–25, the squad has added seven key players to its roster, including trade acquisitions of Andrew Mangiapane, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Logan Thompson, and Jakob Chychrun. The 50th season of the Capitals will begin on October 12 at Capital One Arena against the New Jersey Devils.
Arlington, Virginia: The regular season schedule for each of the 32 teams that make up the National Hockey League was revealed today. On Saturday, October 12 at 7 p.m., the Washington Capitals will play the New Jersey Devils at Capital One Arena in the first game of their 50th season. Both Washington and New Jersey, who were once known as the Kansas City Scouts when they joined the NHL, started competing in the 1974–75 campaign. The longest homestand for the Capitals is a five-game run at Capital One Arena from February 23 to March 3. The team has five homestands with at least three games scheduled. Additionally, Washington has five streaks of at least three straight road games, which includes a five-game road trip from January 21–30 to start the season. The Capitals will also play 13 sets of back-to-back games.

The Capitals play twenty-one of their forty-one home games at Capital One Arena on the weekends, with six of those games taking place on Friday, nine on Saturday, and six on Sunday. Holiday home games against Montreal on October 31, Boston on December 31 for New Year’s Eve, and Utah on February 9 for Super Bowl Sunday are all scheduled. The Capitals will host a game on Super Bowl Sunday for the eighteenth time in the previous nineteen seasons and for the seventeenth time in a row.

In preparation for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, which is scheduled for February 12–20 at Bell Centre in Montreal and TD Garden in Boston, the Capitals schedule will pause for a 12-day period from February 10–21.
